Baking History aims to inspire students to think about making history.

How does it work?

At Baking History we believe that ‘When it comes to education, the most important thing is appetite’ (Winston Churchill). Our classes mix learning about historic events with the fun of baking and tasting. Each lesson begins with historical story-telling, in the course of which a dish from that same era or event, is introduced. As children consider and discuss issues related to the story, including its relevance to their own lives, they learn a recipe and get hands-on with the ingredients. Participants return home with new knowledge, some unanswered questions to keep their minds churning, a recipe they can prepare at home from now on, and something yummy for the family to taste.
